The origins of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be traced back to the mid-20th century, and several individuals and teams made significant contributions to its development. However, it's difficult to identify a single person as the "first" in AI, as the field has evolved through the collaboration and work of many researchers and thinkers.

One early pioneer in AI research was English mathematician and logician Alan Turing. In 1950, Turing published a paper titled "Computing Machinery and Intelligence" in which he proposed the concept of a machine that could exhibit human-like intelligence, known as the Turing Test. This paper is widely considered as one of the foundational works in the field of AI.

Another important figure in the history of AI is John McCarthy, who is often referred to as the father of AI. McCarthy was a computer scientist who, in 1956, organized a conference at Dartmouth College that is now considered to be the birthplace of AI as a scientific discipline. At the conference, he and his colleagues laid out the basic principles and research directions for AI, and the field has since grown and expanded based on these early foundations.

In the decades that followed, many other researchers made significant contributions to the development of AI, including Marvin Minsky, Claude Shannon, and Norbert Wiener. Today, AI continues to be a rapidly growing and evolving field, with researchers and practitioners from around the world working to advance the technology and find new ways to apply it.
