In 1950, Turing published a paper titled "Computing Machinery and Intelligence" in which he proposed the concept of a machine that could exhibit human-like intelligence, known as the Turing Test. This paper is widely considered as one of the foundational works in the field of AI. Another important figure in the history of AI is John McCarthy , who is often referred to as the father of AI.
